Glasgow’s Roof Edge has worked with energy solutions expert Everwarm, to ensure future general roof maintenance work in Aberfoyle Road, Greenock can be carried out safely and efficiently.
The installation was part of an extensive £1m upgrade project of three blocks of flats by Cloch Housing Association in conjunction with Everwarm. The refurbishments works included improving insulation to the buildings which are in a relatively exposed location so are difficult to heat, and re-roofing of the pitched and flat roofs at the properties.
With regular access being required to the roofs for general maintenance works Cloch Housing Association specified the installation of slope mounted roof anchors for the pitched roofs, and KeeLine horizontal lifeline for the flat roof areas. Roof Edge Fabrications’ slope mounted roof anchors area an easy to install, cost effective solution for pitched roof safety. The unobtrusive anchors are specially designed to be mounted on the slope of the roof, which allows the anchor to be fixed next to the access point, which in the case of Aberfoyle Road were roof hatches. When work needs to be carried out on the roofs, contractors simply attach an industrial safety lanyard to the secure anchor point.
KeeLine horizontal lifelines provide a virtually invisible fall protection solution for those working on the flat roofs at the properties. The systems are designed as a continual handsfree system which allows operatives to work safely on the roof without having to detach from the fall protection system.
The installation of Roof Edge Fabrications’ slope mounted roof anchors and KeeLine horizontal lifeline systems ensure that future maintenance work on the roofs at Aberfoyle Road can be carried out safely, quickly and cost-effectively.
